AOL.GOD (Always on Line with God)- 3rd - 5th grade Youth Group
These students have been learning about missions in Haiti, Indonesia, and other third world countries. They're using a Samaritan's Purse prayer journal to learn about children in different countries. Two members participated in Operation Christmas Box. One of these young ladies asked children who were invited to her birthday party to bring no presents for her and instead bring Operation Christmas Boxes filled with supplies that would be sent to children in need. Each of the eight girls who came to the party brought boxes and we made sure that they were delivered. Several of the children participated in the "Read for Feed" program for Heifer International and all helped collect the arks from the congregation. We raised over $700 for Heifer. You might imagine that these children would be satisfied with this impressive amount; but they fell short of their $1,000 goal, so they voted to raise the difference. They've been planning upcoming events in which they might make the additional money.
Middle School Youth Group
Students in grades 6-8 are presently meeting on Sunday nights, 5:00-6:00 PM. These students have listed a number of activities and service projects in which they'd like to participate. Several people have volunteered to work with this group either with a special event or on a long-term basis. Anyone else who might want to work with this age group should contact Cheryl Adamson. |
